The Photo Section Annual Salon

March 6, 2010

The annual Photo Section Salon will be held Saturday March 6, 2010. The salon is a Print and Digital Projected Image (DPI) competition which is judged by outside guest judges. There are cash awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. In addition, many club members have put up a cash award for a category of their choice to help inspire a variety of entries. There will be a catered lunch available for a $10.00 charge. Please prepay for the lunch by contacting Bob Hayes. Check out the menu!

Members entering prints should deliver them to the Rec. Center by 8:30 AM the day of judging on March 6th.  No prints will be collected in advance. If you cannot attend and want to participate you will have to have someone from the club deliver your prints that morning.

The limit of PRINTS and DPIs will be 6 in each category. The entries may be in color or monochrome or any combination of these. There will be no A or B categories for photographers.

Regular competition rules regarding print size and mounting apply. The only restriction on entries is that no image previously accepted in a Photo Section Salon can be reentered. Please bring this form filled out when you bring in your prints.

For the DPIs follow the regular digital competition guidelines to identify the images. Use the letter E as in e1, e2, e3, etc. to identify your images. These images should be sent to Ralph Gurley for preparation by March 1.

Cash prizes 1st $75.00; 2nd $50.00; 3rd $35.00; in both prints and DPI. There will also be category awards of $25.00.

Each club member who enters will have at least one photo accepted in the salon show. If all of your prints are turned over inform the salon committee and one will be selected.

Approximately 100 prints and 170 DPIs will be selected for the salon show or about 60 % of the entries. At the discretion of the salon committee, this could vary to some extent to keep the total number of images in the salon to a reasonable number.

There will be 3 judges who are not members of the photo section selecting the winning entries.

The salon will be shown at several local camera clubs as well as a regular Photo Section meeting in March at which time the winners will be presented with their awards.
